I met myself coming back…

I once heard someone say, ‘I was in such a tearing hurry, I met myself coming back!’ I hadn’t heard this apparently common phrase before, but I loved it – it perfectly encapsulates the frantic nature of my life at the moment. January – a mad rush, so much to get done – editing contracts (hooray!), and setting up my new editing website, and putting the final finishing touches to my next book, Check Mate, which comes out on February 11th, and no, I can’t put the date back as I rashly placed it as ‘available to pre-order’ and – lo and behold – there have been a load of pre-orders! Didn’t see that one coming.

So January – no time for my preferred state of quiet reflection, calm introspection, no time for taking stock – it’s a plunge-pool into 2016 and the month is fast running away with me. Deadlines, deadlines. Tick-lists, progress charts. Frantic searching for stuff, checking, double checking, double double double checking… Anxious glances at the calendar, trying to figure out what to do and when is best to do it. Is it to late to just…

February beckons like the greener grass on the other side of the fence, promising tranquility, order and breathing space.

But you know what they say about the grass on the other side of the fence…
