  1. ‘…It was raining when we arrived…’ I love the ‘we’.

The juxtaposition of ‘…A brass plaque displayed his name and profession…’ and ‘…
no polished secretary…’ brought to my mind a polished brass doorknob. A polished secretary is a distracting image, distracting momentarily from an otherwise a compelling prose style.

A wonderful analogy about marriage. Great story.

So what happened to you and your violin subsequently?

Thanks for the read. Hope I like your other stuff.

    • Thanks for your comments – I did eventually sell the violin to someone who was a violinist with an orchestra in America – she wanted to restore it to its full glory, which the beautiful instrument deserved and I couldn’t afford to do back then, it needed about $800 spent on restoration. When we relocated from England to Brisbane, Australia, and then back again five years alter, sadly the humid weather didn’t do the violin any favours and in the end, I decided it deserved a loving home! Now all I have left are the photos.
